COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Student-Alumni Council (SAC)in partnership with the Ohio State Alumni Association have planned the annual May Week festivities beginning May 1 until May 8.  Under the directorship of SAC member Priyanka Joshi, the May Week committee has planned and coordinated a plethora of events to go on all week on OSU’s campus. SAC’s May Week coordinator Priyal Gupta has been a helping hand along the way.

Although many events are hosted by individual student organizations, the steering committee has worked hard to plan a few larger events during the week for all students.

Beginning at noon on Sunday May 3rd and continuing throughout the week all student groups are invited to take a picture at the Stadium Terrace on the second floor of the RPAC.  All groups will receive a complimentary May Week photo frame.  Photographs are taken by appointment only.  Requests for time slots can be found at www.mayweek.osu.edu.

At 7:00 pm on Tuesday May 5th, the committee will be giving out breakfast food at the Wexner Center Plaza.  Throughout the night students are encouraged to take a ghost tour of campus, create OSU crafts, or watch a movie in the Wexner.

At 4:30 pm on Thursday May 7th the annual May Week Picnic will be on the South Oval.  All students are welcome to enjoy BBQ food, cornhole, and sack races.

On the last day, May 8th from 2:00-7:00pm, the anticipated CarnOval will take over the South Oval.  This event hosted by the Ohio Union will feature a ferris wheel and swinger rides.  Approximately 15 student-run carnival booths will allow students to obtain tickets to enter the raffle.  Free carnival themed food will be given away including snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, and funnel cakes, as well as candy and caramel apples.  The Major Campus Events Committee has created a brand new signature event for the week in hopes of drawing more attention to the May Week.

Intended to showcase student organizations and department, May Week was brought back to connect students, faculty and staff through events.  The week celebration began in 1939, with events surrounding May Day that had been celebrated on campus since 1910.  SAC is responsible for bringing May Week back to campus.
